VACOP emerging artists meet with Mia Tarducci Henry, Founder and Director of The Mine Factory, to learn about the artist studio spaces and gallery space housed in the building.

Pittsburgh-based artist Sarika Goulatia, originally from Gorakhpur, India, speaks with the VACOP artists about her artistic practice and current projects in her studio at The Mine Factory. Sarika introduced the artists primarily to her assemblage work, then prompts them to begin thinking about their own assemblage projects.

With a given set of materials at their disposal, the artists began brainstorming their plans for constructing their own assemblage pieces.

After gessoing their compositions, Pittsburgh-based artist Meghan Olson introduced students to surface application techniques with paint and flocking fibers.
